009 North Wales: ambition log
Ambition first — a 009 layout heavily inspired by the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland; later, build logs and maybe a locomotive of my own.
Ambition (now)
A 009 North Wales layout, heavily inspired by the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway.
Not a full build diary yet — an ambition log: what the layout should feel like, what “done enough” means for a first scenic slice, and what to research before timber and track.
Later
- Build and progress logs as the layout exists in the real world
- The story of attempting to design my own model railway locomotive
Notes to expand
- Scale / gauge constraints that matter for 009 here
- Prototype scenes worth compressing into the board
- Motive power: kit, kitbash, or scratch ambition
- How photos of the bench will feed the Photos lane without diluting rail writing
